I am always trying to create a community feeling inside of my classroom. So we spend a lot of time doing activities on the floor such as our morning meetings, whole group learning, and team building exercises. We spend a lot of our day working on the floor, and unfortunately 1st graders are not provided carpets at my school. My students do not always mind sitting on the cold ,bare floor, but I would love to be able to have our "community" time on something that is colorful and warm. Having a nice carpet on the floor will give my students a sense of comfort. It will be our "go to" spot to learn and interact with each other throughout the day. We need a pencil sharpener to sharpen our pencils.
