The best way to learn new words in any language is to read them; that is exactly what this project is aiming to do. Students at my school have had traditional textbook Spanish, but I am taking my classroom in a different direction. My classes are focused on providing meaningful and understandable input, all in Spanish. So far this year, students have been able to read short stories that we create as a class. While these stories are always interesting, they lack the wider range of vocabulary that students need. By creating a classroom library of books in Spanish, my students will be able to learn new words on so many more topics than we could ever cover in class. The books that I have selected range from history to science to social and emotional learning. These books would be one more tool that students are able to use to learn another language.
