Students learn best when they can use their hands and visualize what they are learning. The supplies that I picked out will help them do this. These supplies will allow my students to model the mathematics that they are learning. The manipulatives that I chose will help my students better understand some difficult topics by learning with hands on materials. Finding area, surface area and volume is very difficult for students to visualize when they do not have the 3D shapes in front of them. These 3D shapes with the nets included will help them see how the shapes breaks down to the net and how we calculate the area, surface area and volume. Also having a coordinate plane in front of the students so they can follow along as we learn about ordered pairs and the quadrants, would help them visualize the material as we learn it. Probability is also a very complicated topic to understand without hands on activities and materials.
