As a first year educator, my classroom library is starting off at ground zero. I have a very small and limited library that seems to have minimal appeal to my students and their personal reading interests. As an ELA educator, my main goal and desire is to foster and nurture life long readers, writers, and LEARNERS. That all starts with a good book in hand. To meet that need, the students need to be exposed to a variety of literature options. I have also included audio books in this project for my ESE and ELL students. As a recent college graduate, I understand the value and power of CHOICE. Getting to pick my major, classes, and even professors allowed me to take ownership of my own learning. Students can learn the value and power of CHOICE and can be taught to take ownership of their learning at an early age in the classroom through reading books that spark their personal interests and passions!
