My classroom library is old and tired. Most of the current books were generously donated by previous teachers and community members, but are now woefully outdated. Students in my classroom lack sources of compelling young adult novels that are appropriate to their 8th grade year. Each year these students ask for more graphic novels and relatable fiction. The good news is that they love to read! The bad news is that this love could dwindle without the right resources. These 8th graders need new books that will suck them in and help develop their budding passion for reading. This project will provide students with much needed sources for creating book commercials, storyboards, imaginary film posters, and their own short films that express their love of books. Through this expression, other students catch the reading bug, and books become more valuable to students than the rarest of fidget spinners. This is my goal. Please help me develop a community of readers!
