Expand Ms. Nagata's Classroom Library
Funded Jan 27, 2025Thank you for your support of my classroom library expansion project. My students have enjoyed the new reading options. This year I have big plans to introduce these books to a new group of students in my English 9 and 11 classes. I am excited to be able to provide them with a wider variety of choice for their personal reading projects and to supplement units with additional reading options. This year I am planning to include personal reading time on Fridays and Book Sharing Circles. Our new books will give students more exciting reading opportunities and will expose them to great mentor writing. This selection of books also introduces readers to time periods, cultures, and countries that they may be unfamiliar with thus broadening their world view. Thank you again for supporting my fantastic neuro-diverse learners at Spectrum Academy Pleasant Grove.”

Funded Aug 12, 2024Thank you for your generous contributions that enabled our our Beach Vibe Calming Corner to become a reality. We have been using it for the past two weeks, and already it has been a great place for students to take a comforting sensory break. My students have loved chilling in the beach tent, listening to soothing sounds, playing with the kinetic sand and with the bubble and sand movement toys. I have had a few students who were struggling with escalated emotions and who found comfort and regulation in the calming corner. This has been a great addition to our classroom management strategy and to the positive perception of English Language Arts instruction that I have been working hard to cultivate. Thank you again for making all of this possible.”

Funded Nov 4, 2023I just wanted to let everyone who contributed to my "Focused Brains, Not Hunger Pains" project about the positive impact your support made in my classroom. It was a great resource to have these snacks for my students available in my classroom so that instruction time would not be lost in students going down to the office to get a snack when they were hungry. Most students only asked for a snack when they were really hungry so these snacks went pretty far and lasted for several months.
Thank you for your help in meeting a basic need so that we could facilitate learning and growth without the interference of hunger pains.”

Restless Leg Seating
Funded Sep 8, 2023Thank you for your support of my Restless Leg Seating project. These chairs have been a great flexible seating option for many of my students who have a hard time sitting in traditional chairs. My students were very excited when we received these chairs and we had to work out a rotational system to make sure that everyone who wanted to use them had the opportunity. My 9th graders especially loved them. These chairs have also been great because they make good use of space in our small classroom allowing four students to occupy a space that would normally only allow for two students using the traditional tables and chairs.
Students using these swivel chairs sit in a semi-circle formation at the front of my classroom, and each chair is complimented with a lap desk that students can use to type on their chromebooks or write on papers. The blue color of the fabric combines well with the calming blue colors of our classroom wall. I was please that after a year of using the chairs have held up well, and are still in great condition.
Many of the visitors to our classroom are impressed with the option of flexibility and mobility that these chairs offer our students. Once again, thank you so much for your contribution. Your help has made a big difference in my classroom environment.”

Scholastic Magazine Subscription for Ms. Nagata's English Classes
Funded May 10, 2023I have enjoyed incorporating the Scholastic Magazines into my classroom this last year. The articles are very accessible for all students with full color photos and graphs. I loved that each issue included some fantastic online resources such as background informational videos and skill building activities based on each article. We used these little magazines to support skill building in the areas of reading comprehension and writing. We also used them to learn about formatting articles in preparation for writing articles for our own class magazines. Thank you for contributing to this project. It helped to facilitate exciting growth in student abilities.”
