Writing is a skill that must be mastered this school year. My students write a composition every day. The question that is asked at least 1000 times a day is "How do you spell........?" My students expect me to spell the words for them. I believe that if the students looked up the words for themselves they would be able to remember the spelling. I believe in the power of a dictionary. Sharing is an important skill, however it is not feasible or productive to share during composition writing. It would be beneficial for every student to have a dictionary on their desk while writing their compositions.
