Having the opportunities for art projects allows students to express their creativity and emotions. Art allows them to be creative, which develops their inventiveness and allows them to become people who look for different options and think outside of the box. Art also allows them to express feelings that they may not have another outlet in which to express them.
The importance of creative expression through arts goes further than just providing an outlet for the students, it also benefits them in other developmental areas. Getting time to get to work with various art supplies can improve their fine motor skills. They will be working with small materials like sequins and foam shapes, as well as cutting with scissors, which all help with their dexterity. This improved dexterity will then improve their handwriting.
These self-motivated art projects can also improve students language development because they often love talking about what they are creating. This will get students using descriptive language and working on their communication skills with peers and their teacher (me!).
This project will help my students' development in so many different ways!
