Many of my students have never been around computers and do not have access to technology in order to prepare them to be 21st century learners. By introducing Chromebooks into the classroom my students will have another means to incorporate literacy and technology as well as allowing the students to become familiar with different applications that Chromebooks have to offer. I also plan to use the Chromebooks and books as a form of research projects- investigations. Not only will they use their non-fiction books to read and learn about animals they have not seen before but they can use the Chromebooks to investigate further. The new knowledge acquired will also translate into their writing. As a result, we will have students that show improvements in 3 subject areas: reading, technology, and writing! As a teacher I want my students to have all the possibilities available and I believe that unifying Technology and Literacy is the way to do this!
