Title I students rarely have access to exciting novels. Therefore, these materials will give my students accessibility to explore reading through a lens of enjoyment. My students will be reading one self-selected novel each semester, and having a comprehensive and diverse classroom library with give them options for this assignment and topics to discuss with one another. If a student finds a story or novel they enjoy, they will enjoy reading. This kind of exposure is my ultimate goal when creating this classroom library. I want my students to have a place to go to discover their interests through their literary journey. The novels and series I have selected are diverse in content and author(s), and provide relatable and/or positive themes. They can be powerful in curating discussion and self-reflection. Fulfillment of this classroom library will be my first step towards creating a diverse and safe environment for my students to discover more about the English language and their relationship with stories.
