These iPods and VR headsets will be used most frequently to allow our students to explore social studies and science content in a more hands-on way, but also to support investigations and research in reading and writing. For example, instead of researching natural disasters through books and online resources alone, students could use the VR headsets and iPods to stand on top of a volcano as it is erupting, giving them a deeper understanding of something that they would otherwise never experience. Students will use VR to go on African safaris to study animals living in the grasslands, take trips to places around the world to explore historical sites and current events, and investigate places where natural disasters have hit to support their researching work. In addition to the VR systems, which will be their main purpose in the classroom, the iPods will also serve as another tool for students to use the Internet in researching, practicing math facts, designing presentations, coding, and language practice for ELL students.
