All of my students receive special education services and have experienced significant difficulty reading. It has been challenging finding just right books that are highly engaging and easily readable for my students due to their limitations and resistance to reading. This school year, my students have made leaps and bounds towards becoming willing readers. My students regularly vote on our class novels, and they choose to read From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Brasil E. Frankweiler. They have chosen the last two class novels by casting their votes, and I have noticed the difference! Also, making time for independent reading has made a major impact.
