My students are third, fourth and fifth graders who start learning an instrument in their first year of instruction, and then continue in their second year by participating in a larger ensemble. They are inquisitive young folks who are not afraid to explore and try new things. They seem to really enjoy their music class, and they consider it a safe environment for taking on daunting tasks. The school where they attend is located in the heart of a big city, and its entire student body qualifies for the free lunch program. Its teachers and staff give it their all to provide a nurturing environment for the students.
