My students are extremely high potential, but live in a low income area. They are innovative, creative, critical thinkers, and problem solvers. Because of the many obstacles and challenges they face day to day in their neighborhood, they have become extremely versed in problem-solving, and finding simple solutions to complex issues. Over 99% of my students receive free or reduced lunch, and spend most of their day inside of our building. Every adult in our building wants what's best for our students, and we work to provide opportunities to our students that they may not otherwise have. One example of providing opportunities to students is our extended day for school-wide enrichment. For 1 hour, 2 days a week, our students have the opportunity to complete exploratory learning activities connected to their personal interest.
