I consider myself someone who is involved in Philadelphia as an educator and advocate for many of it's school children. What I want is for the students to go out and show the world who they really are as resourceful, urban students who might not live in the best places in the world, but that doesn't make them undeserving, violent, drug dealers or addicts. Many of them come from families who do the best they can to survive and live peacefully in the world. I'd say that most of them want to learn and want the best for themselves and their families. Unfortunately, life is not fair sometimes to urban students who might be labeled as "losers" or low achievers. To engage and empower these students is quite a feat, Especially with their phones and mp3 players "calling" them. With the equipment I desire for them, I can engage them with new worlds, people and ideas to participate as 21st Century Learners!!
