My lab has some equipment which can be used. The yoga mat will be used for teaching yoga to students as they rotate through the Active Learning Lab. Since I am very mobile it would be extremely helpful to have an iPad to use while moving around in the lab. Being able to have a printer in the classroom, as other teachers have, will also save time in preparing the lab for different groups of students on a daily basis. Headphones will be used for listening to music and stories to help students who may need to work independently sometimes. A typical session in the lab will be based on the age and grade of students. For example working with a group of 1st graders who may have problems with paying attention or sitting still, I would have a specific rotation set up for the centers in the class which will help with focus. Since I will not only be creating the rotations, I have to track the progress for each student. By using my iPad in the lab I can model, encourage and track progress. I will be on the move to pick up students and return them to class. Having the flexibility to use the iPad and printer in the room would save me time to spend with students. Also I currently do not have any yoga mats in the class. Yoga will also be one of the rotations in my class that some students will need. I am so fortunate to have this opportunity to work with students in an Active Learning Lab, which helps students learn how to focus, learn movement and coordination as it relates to classroom behavior and learning. I love my students!
