While students may have access to resources at school, they cannot always extend those resources beyond the school walls. By purchasing books that students can read anywhere, students will not be solely reliant on the school's resources such as wifi and Chromebooks, which will allow learning and literacy to thrive beyond the classroom. Students will use these texts to navigate the theme of self-discovery and identity and how it evolves at different moments in life. Students have recently completed a modern text by Sherman Alexie which explores the process of self-discovery of a young adolescent Native American boy. Students will read texts that explore how young adults develop their own perception of the world around them while still experiencing pressure from outside forces that surround them.
