The materials and supplies I am requesting will be used to help run a dynamic community service learning program for our school's fifth graders. Each day, fifth grade students will have 45 minutes a day to devote to community service learning projects that affect our school, our community, and our world. Working together, students will plan and implement fundraisers using the resource books I've included in this order. Students will use these ideas to raise money for animal rescues and will make dog and cat toys to donate. We'll make and sell wish bracelets which will help fund drilling wells for water in Africa. We'll also use animal paw beads to create bracelets to sell to friends and family members to raise money for our local animal rescue. We'll plan and implement a school-wide kindness/anti-bullying campaign, creating a "random acts of kindness" board and a pathway of kindness rocks to encourage an inclusive school community. Students will write letters and create painted artwork to thank veterans, active servicemen/women, firefighters and police for their service. In addition, we'll use the clear garbage bags to clean up our local watershed. Through these activities, I hope to inspire students in an authentic, meaningful way to help others and make our world a little kinder.
