In our classroom, we have students constantly moving their seats back and forth across the room. In order to do small group, the students are carrying their chairs from their desks to the back table. This disrupts so much of the learning environment because everyone either turns to look and see what is going on, or the students take longer to get back to the small group table. They would love to just leave their desks how they are and come back to the small group table to work with their peers, without the hassle. Flexible seating gives students autonomy to make the best decision for their learning. Those students that need differentiated seating can have that option. Those students that want to change up their environment are also able to have that option. I have seen many classrooms that thrive with different flexible seating options. I am hoping to provide this opportunity to my students as well.
