Having the correct tools for learning is essential to student success. The use of a primary composition notebook provides students with the correct lines needed to correctly make letters and provide a space to draw a picture, which is developmentally appropriate. The use of thicker pencils allows students to hold a pencil correctly and will facilitate proper handwriting techniques such as grip and pressure. These materials are essential to providing students a successful start in writing. Without the proper tools, my students will struggle with handwriting and the writing process. Many students have special needs or are learning to write in English for the first time. With the use of the notebooks and pencils, we will be able to give them the tools the need in order to become good writers.
