There's always a moment when reading where nothing else around matters. The words on the pages are so gripping, so intriguing that the reader feels as if they are part of the story. My favorite moments of teaching are watching the eyes of my students light up as they talk about their journey through a book. Our classroom library is in need of new titles to spark that love of reading in reluctant students, and to provide new journeys for my seasoned readers. My students deserve books that captivate them, inspire them, represent them, and leave them craving another. My students deserve access to books at all times, and not just once a week during their scheduled library visits. My students deserve to get lost in a book and to see that reading is more than just a subject, it's an experience. Currently, my students are using a classroom library that was donated by a former educator. Our books are well loved, and many are missing covers, pages, or were printed long before my students were even born. My students have requested an updated classroom library that is full of their favorites and the classics. By providing new titles, my students will fall in love with reading, storytelling, and the art of the written word --- all while increasing their comprehension.
