My students are constantly working on functional academics, such as being able to tell time to the hour, and being able to count money with independence. Having simulated money and being able to use analog clocks will provide them a hands-on learning experience, which is especially important for students with special needs. We also work on behavior management, so being able to use fidgets is a method to allow them to regulate their own behaviors. It also provides an output for the students who have been diagnosed with ADHD, and are unable to stay still for long periods of time. In our classroom we also use many visuals for communication boards, as well as community and classroom signs. We are able to download task cards and visuals from teachers pay teachers. We also laminate our visuals and use velcro when using visuals for communication boards, as well as visual task boards. All of the items will help the students succeed in our learning environment!
