My students have all faced their share of adversity. From losing a mother to a traumatic murder, to dealing with the challenges of adolescence while having bi-polar disorder, to overcoming physical, sexual, and emotional abuse at home - these kids really need to know that someone cares and that they too are capable of doing great things and learning great things! I hope that bringing in simple supplies (which are often in short supply for my class) will show them that people are invested in them and care that they learn.
