If my project is fully funded, I will be able to begin the process of transforming my classroom into a comfortable, flexible learning environment. I am only able to be funded for half of the project for now since this is my first time on DonorsChoose. If I reach my goal, I will do another project to get funded for a completed classroom! I am so excited to be able to open my students up to a new world in the classroom! We will have a flexible classroom that will allow us to integrate many learning strategies that are not easily accomplished in a traditional classroom. Education is changing with student motivation and higher engagement at the forefront of teaching best practices. If students are expected to change and adapt, then teachers need to change and adapt right along with the students. Having a place where students can be comfortable and choose where they want to learn that day, will help in motivating the students to take responsibility in their learning styles. I will use the funds to purchase a few different types of tables and chairs so I can create flexible seating. This means the students will be able to rotate where and what they sit on during our class. This leads to the students being more engaged and invested in our class. The long tables and rolling chairs can be configured many different ways for collaborative work as well as individual work. The high tables and stools give an option for smaller group work and a varying place to sit in the classroom. The colorful stools will be used with round tables I would like to purchase in the future along with a few bean bag chairs.
