My classroom is a special day class designed for students with Autism and other disabilities in grades 3rd to 5th. Because Autism is on a spectrum, they all bring their unique strengths and challenges to the classroom. Even though my students are in an upper-grade classroom, they are reading at levels far below their own. It is therefore, important to me that I find innovative ways to help them reach their potential. My classroom is filled with students eager to learn using technology. It has been long due that my students be exposed to other sources of learning literacy. My students attend a Title I school in a low-income community, where some live in poverty. I can't wait for the day they can use technologically advanced tools to help them develop the literacy skills they will need for the rest of their lives.
