My students are curious and energetic little heroes who crave learning and enjoy being challenged. The majority of them come from low-income homes, but bring with them the highest level of interest to learn and explore the unknown. Of my 22 students, 20 are ELLs who require significant support in reading and writing, but are eager to learn.
Our school is very much community and family based. As a brand new school, our parents have been our greatest supporters, but many resources are limited. Our second-grade classroom is composed of dividers set up in an auditorium between us and another classroom. All of our furniture is portable, and storage and wall space are extremely limited. We are striving to find creative ways to make our classroom feel like a "real" classroom. The butcher paper and bins would greatly aid in this. Despite this, many families have decided to stick with us because they believe we have something special to offer to their children's educational experience.
