I teach in a working class town. It is a diverse population that includes working poor. middle class, as well as a homeless population. My classroom is an integrated classroom with many ELL students and several students with IEPs. My school is a K-gr5 school. We often use student peers as role models for our students. It is not uncommon to peek into my classroom and see a couple of 4th or 5th graders playing a math game or reading to their younger peers.
