Concourse Village Elementary School is located in a very poverty stricken section of the Bronx. Most of my students come from very low income households and aren’t able to buy school supplies. Being that we are starting off the school year with blended learning, my co-teacher and I would like to ensure the safety of all students by making sure they all have their own materials. We plan to hand out pencil cases with items that are essential to their learning such as pencils, erasers, glue sticks, and scissors for future projects. We will also be reading two books this year and plan to practice annotating texts. We will be using post it notes as well as highlighters to help us annotate. We also need more copies of the books “Tiger Rising” and “Love, Amalia” to send home to students who opted for remote learning. It is our goal to make the 2020-2021 school year as productive and safe as possible by ensuring that ALL students have their own materials to work with.
