My students are inventive, explorative, and excited about learning. They let curiosity guide them in endeavors and always report their findings to me with so much enthusiasm. They are questioners, thinkers, and doers. Moreover, they are teachers. I learn from them every day. At my school, where 100% of the students receive free or reduced lunch, we are cultivating success. Success can look like a mother walking her children to their classes before work or educators building trust with students who struggle with trauma. Even though there is an abundance of trials that they face on a daily basis, my students are dedicated to their learning experiences. When I look at them, I see everything that they are and will be: graduates, artists, scientists, pioneers, presidents. They have limitless potential, and as their teacher, I want to ensure that they have access to everything they need to make their dreams come true.
