Manipulatives make learning core academic standards interesting and enjoyable. Give a student the choice of working on a page of problems or solving a problem with colorful and compelling materials, and there's no contest. Manipulatives intrigue and motivate while helping students learn. To enrich my students learning environment I will be implementing math and literacy centers this year and will be using these manipulatives to create real-life learning experiences that will keep my students focused and engaged. Manipulatives build students' confidence by giving them a way to test and confirm their reasoning. Manipulatives help children develop the ability and confidence to find their way around in their learning experience, see how concepts connect, and know what to do should they forget a fact or procedure.
