I teach a Fourth Grade Dual Language class in Manhattan Valley, a neighborhood on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I have 22 students in my class mostly predominately hispanic. Some of my students speak Spanish as their first language while others speak English as their first language. All my students come to school with a desire to learn regardless of the language they speak and with an eagerness to learn to read, write and speak in Spanish.
