So I can give seating options for my fifth graders, I am requesting Wobble Seats, balance balls and floor seats. With various seating options, my students will get to choose where to work so they can take responsibility and ownership of their learning. If necessary for cooperative learning groups, the students will have the ability to simply pick up and move their seats. Providing varied seating options will contribute to student success. Giving students the power to choose provides an opportunity for them to take ownership of their work. On any given day, some children will choose to sit at a desk with a straight back chair, but others need the chance to have alternative options available so they can be successful learners.
