My students are an energetic group of third graders in an Indianapolis school where approximately 91% of the students receive free or reduced lunch. After seeing my students struggle with reading, which led them to lose interest in reading, I introduced and implemented the Daily 5 reading program. They instantly loved the concept of the program because they have CHOICES in what they do each day! I have been lucky enough to follow this great group of students to the third grade where we continue with Daily 5!
