My students are an energetic bunch of third graders whom are adjusting to many changes this year. This is our first year being fully aligned with the Common Core State Standards and as I said before, it is a big adjustment for them. They are eager to learn new information and truly enjoy participating in class. However, they sometimes find the demands of the new curriculum to be a true challenge. I'm working diligently to make this transition as smooth and as non-frustrating as possible for them. My students need as much exposure to literature and vocabulary as they can get. They come from a low to moderate socioeconomic background, and they are attending school in a district in which 100% of the students are receiving free lunch this year. Our school is rated a C on the 2014 State Accountability Summary. My goal and my school's goal is to become an A level school. This can only be done with hard work, dedication, motivation, and necessary resources.
