Starting Arts is an amazing musical theater company. They provide students an opportunity to be a part of a production from start to finish. Students are presented lessons in acting, singing, and dancing. Professional performers and directors come in and work with the children on learning their lines, acting out their roles, and learning to sing and dance. Starting Arts provides the scripts, rights and royalties, costumes, sound equipment, lighting equipment, stage sets, programs, posters, and the adults to organize it all. Trying to start our own musical theater program would cost a lot more than what Starting Arts charges. Students who have experienced this program in the past have gained confidence, friendships, purpose, integrity, teamwork, and pride. Participation in this show also helps them academically: we have seen students improve in reading fluency and comprehension. Additionally, students have shown increased time management and personal responsibilities skills. Overall, this program has so much to offer our students, who without assistance would never be able to afford an experience like this one.
