My classroom serves students with Autism in a Pre-K Intensive Sensory/Communication Support (ISCS) classroom, where each student learns best through movement, sensory experiences, and structured play. Many of my students have significant communication needs and use visuals, AAC devices, talking buttons, and gestures to express their wants and needs. They benefit from sensory regulation opportunities such as jumping, spinning, and access to calm-down spaces to help them stay engaged in learning.
They are enthusiastic, bright, and eager to discover. Whether we’re practicing social-emotional skills, participating in small-group hands-on activities, or exploring learning centers, my students show tremendous growth when the right supports are in place. They work hard every day, and they truly flourish when provided with developmentally appropriate materials designed for their unique sensory and communication profiles.
