My students are incredible, young thinkers, readers, mathematicians, and self-advocates. They are persistent, determined, and empathetic as they strive to make themselves and their school a better place. My students also have mild to moderate learning disabilities which impact their ability to fully participate in general education classrooms, but they are resilient and will not be deterred from seeking excellence in education. I believe that each child has incredible strengths that deserve to be celebrated and additionally their own needs that deserve to be addressed in their schooling. Our school, Montera, was recently named a California Distinguished school while serving students from the geographic expanse of Oakland, CA. Our school is diverse, vibrant, and working towards providing all students with an excellent education.
