My students are second graders from many different backgrounds. Many students receive little or no help from home. One of the challenges this group of students faces is that they are not exposed to a rich reading environment. This is a challenge that affects all subjects being taught. Students are struggle to read the words, that they miss out on understanding what has been read. This affects them in math, science, social studies, reading, and writing. When a child struggles to read their desire for learning is squashed. My goal is to help each child bloom in creativity with their thinking by presenting them to many types of reading, writing, and research opportunities.

About my class
