Hello everyone! A few years back I designed a leadership class which I teach to 4th graders. It involves: Team building, respect, collaboration, problem solving, Individual and group work, helping out teachers in the younger classrooms, at recess and in the lunchroom. We work for the goal of traveling to the Maine Forest Yurts in the middle of the woods in Durham Maine. It is here where students learn to put all the skills they have learned to good use. Many of these students have never been out of their own town before. They experience the importance of team work, common sense, solving problems individually and as a group. They must also cook their own lunch over an open fire (Adults demonstrate how to start/build a fire and the rules of a safe fire) We need funding for transportation, food and some team/survival supplies.
