In creating a list of requests for my classroom, it was important to me that everything contributed to meeting the needs of my students. I included a variety of types of lighting to make the classroom environment feel less harsh, which can be particularly helpful for students with autism or sensory awareness, as fluorescent lights flicker. I also included a number of fidget toys for students who utilize them to stay focused in class, as well as space for alternative seating to use as a way to be focused. Some other items included a variety of posters, which will support students in being able to check in with their reading and writing skills, making sure they are pushing themselves. All of these items will make my classroom feel like a pleasant place to learn, where students feel comfortable achieving the rigorous education they deserve.
