Imagine editing a weekly newsletter and staring at the perfect laser printer that you can't use because there's no ink! Or being so excited about the new digital cameras that you fundraised for but have no photo printer to work with. Our students are very excited about learning desktop publishing and producing their own newsletter and yearbook this year. They have no access to technology beyond the doors of our school so it's important that they have the technology and support to facilitate their experience. Many of our students are recent immigrants from Central and South America as well as Africa and the Middle East. They are learning English and dealing with huge cultural adjustment while their middle school bodies are in the throes of change. Others have lived with a different family member as caregiver each year or every few months. Stability is what we offer them and a vehicle to express themselves is a much appreciated and enjoyed opportunity. The product is a great achievement.
