Working in an economically disadvantaged area unfortunately means that my students do not have the access to the resources or environments that they need to learn. I am proud to teach in Baltimore, but my classroom and school are missing some of the basic things needed to create a environment conducive to learning and achievement. We do not have functional speakers needed to listen to audiobooks and multimedia texts. The speaker will also enable us to put on plays, talent shows, school dances, and other events that will further my students' horizons. My students deserve more and I am determined to give it to them.
