"Books are the plane, the train, and the road. They are the destination and the journey. They are home." - Anne Quindlen
My scholars need the tools to take them on an adventure! The fifth graders at our school have a huge desire to learn, but our library is not enough for all 92 scholars to find a book they love. We need to refresh our reading choices so that our scholars can continue to grow their brain power!
At our school, fifth grade scholars are split into three ability-based groups. After looking at the NWEA scores for winter, I found that the scholars that showed the most growth - regardless of ability group - were those that I have seen find books that interest them over and over again. Scholars that found book series like Harry Potter or authors they love like Gary Paulsen are the ones that had the most growth. I can only imagine the growth that we could see if all the scholars had books they could fall in love with!
This is where you can really help us out. By donating just a little bit, you can change the lives of these scholars and set them up for success as they enter middle school. Think back to when you were in elementary school. Did you have books that inspired you? Books that kept you awake past your bedtime? If my scholars have books to fell in love with, they will become a force to be reckoned with!
