The last year of school has been rough (and that's putting it lightly). Many students and teachers have lost materials and books over the course of that year. Students are eager to come back to school, but most of all, they're looking for high engagement. Many of the items I am asking for will give my students hands-on learning experiences with opportunities to be creative. Many of the students in my classroom are English Language Learners, and word work is important - but it can also be boring for them to write their spelling words ten times each. By supplying them with letter magnets, Wikki Sticks, play dough, and whiteboards, they will be able to have fun spelling while learning at the same time. The novel set will allow my students to read at home and dig deeper into our unit of women's history without having to share it with someone else. Writing is difficult for my students, but I try to make it as fun and special as possible. By presenting them blank books with lines at the end of our units, they will be able to create their very own, custom-made narrative short storybooks and informational books to give their parents lovely keepsakes.
