The materials for this project are materials that are greatly needed. The pencils, paper and dry erase markers are all tools the students will use in order to perfect their writing and to complete specific state standard aligned assignments. Often, it is difficult to get copies done as well. Most times, one of the two things happen, teacher's printers are out of toner or not working. This makes it very difficult to create activities, assignments and assessments daily, so a printer in the classroom would make it easier to create and print activities for the children. The listening center is the core of it all! The listening center was selected for my students who are having difficulty reading. My children love to read and they want so badly to read on grade level! Most of them try their hardest but with 19 children in all, I cannot give every child the individual time he or she may need during small group instruction every day. A listening center will allow children to listen to and read books and enjoy them on their own. In the same sense, the listening center will provide students with more fun and interactive reading and comprehension activities that they can and will be accountable for. Of course, by building their reading skills, students will become stronger, more fluent and comprehensive readers! This will also help students become more proficient in literacy state standards.
