My students aka. my "smart cookies" attend a public school in Washington D.C. They are extremely diverse in every sense of the word. They come from a variety of ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds. In addition, my students are academically diverse. Academically, some students are able to read and other students are unable to speak English or identify any letters of the alphabet. With that said, I have to be creative with my instructional approach, centers and differentiate to meet each child's academic needs. I am one of the biggest advocates for my students and I am willing to do what I can to ensure they will learn and be successful in life. A complete listening center will help them build the foundational skills they need in both reading and math.
