Having a safe and comfortable learning environment for my students is very important to me. By allowing students to choose a comfortable seat the student will take more ownership of their space and gives them more control of their education. Alternative seating has become popular in elementary classrooms to help with the struggle of staying in a seat all day. I have always let my student sit or stand to do their work as long as they do not disturb others. Being able to choose a more comfortable seat throughout the long day will help with the wiggles and squirming. This will allow the student to focus more on their work. I have slowly introduced my students to a few alternative seats in the past few weeks. They are excited and looking forward to have more options soon like Wobble Cushions or Steel Stools .
