With 2 full years of teaching in Newark Public Schools, I've decided to stretch myself to grow. I will be moving into a 1st grade dual language setting, helping students become bilingual and biliterate in Spanish. I believe that all students are able to learn but may need different supports to reach their full potential. I will be working with students who have recently entered the country to help build a new life. More than succeeding academically, I think kids of all ages are able to achieve great things and show tremendous maturity when taught. From kids as young as preschool age, if you give them tools to self-regulate, communicate, and express themselves, as well as acknowledge their everyday experiences as valuable, they're unstoppable. As an educator, it is not just my job but my responsibility to make sure my students have those tools. I'm here to ask for help assembling the means to make it happen.
