Since most of my students are at risk of dropping out of school and lack motivation to engage in the classroom, having these Sphero 2.0 robots will give my students something to actively engage them in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) through hands-on experiences. My students will be able to use our classroom iPad to access the Sphero App to collaborate with classmates and use their critical thinking skills to learn how to program Sphero.
After using the tutorial videos and learning the basics of programming, students will be able to dive into a variety of programming challenges as we work our way through the activities included in the Sphero App. These will give my students something extra to look forward to each day at school and will serve as great motivation to not only come to school, but also to apply themselves to the task at hand in collaboration with their peers. Not only will they have meaningful STEAM learning experiences, but they will also be working on their teamwork skills to tackle the more difficult programming challenges that they will face with their programming partner.
