I teach reading to 50 of the most inspiring first graders in a low-income community, where 99% of students receive free and reduced lunch. They all face challenges outside of school but walk into the classroom eager to learn! Each child is curious and motivated. It is my job to keep this curiosity and motivation alive! I do so by providing a positive learning environment, one where optimism and positive interactions are modeled and expected, and through engaging instruction where deeper level thinking and questioning are critical.

About my class
